Dating back to the time of Monarchy, the history of the anchoring of Lindoso begins in 1905 with a preliminary project for hydraulic exploration, with the former hydroelectric plant of Lindoso. Almost 1 sec. then, in 1992, the Alto-Lindoso dam was inaugurated, the most powerful in Portugal today, and in 1993 the Touvedo dam was also inaugurated.

Faced with these constructions, on the left bank of the River Lima, the EDP colony was built, a kind of “city”, characterized by infrastructure for its workers and their families. Neighborhoods, a school, inn, private chapel, cafeteria, medical center, cultural and sports complex, swimming pool, summer camp, playgrounds, concert hall, cinema and bar, games room and library were built. to support the costs of the free supply of water and electricity. At the same time, it was also  developed an economic ecosystem  like  cafes, restaurants, local shops, etc...

Currently, the infrastructures are in full, partial use, or taken over by vegetation and degradation (abandonment).
